PhotoSoup is a visual word puzzle generator that allows users to create word search puzzles with tag-photo pairs taken from Flickr.
PhotoSoup uses public, Creative-Commons-licensed photos and Flickr's open APIs. The object of the game is to find all the tags hidden (up, down, across, and diagonal) in the puzzle square. The photos surrounding the puzzle are the clues – try to discover the associated tags based on the photos you see and locate them on the puzzle before time runs out. You can start a game by specifying a topic of your interest. Alternatively, you can create a puzzle with your Flickr screen name.
New for this second edition is the leaderboard functionality, that tracks both cumulative highscores, and the highscore that is set for a particular topic during the last week. Furthermore, we have added a tab showing a tag cloud of popular topics. Last but not least, you can embed the photosoup game on your homepage and allow user to play a game with your photos on Flickr.
We challenge you to try our demo and see how many tags you can find.
PhotoSoup was created by the Search Technologies group.

Why don't you make it a Facebook application? You'll get more traction.

Comment by Pras Sarkar (August 27, 2008, 1:57 pm)Just written to you, to ask about being able to load to Flikr and use our own images in the puzzles to make this into a great educational tool embedded into our wikis (as teachers we do need to control the content - and some of the images associated with the theme are a little random - not educationally sound) Thanks
