Garçon provides a more efficient way of making online connections by studying the patterns of users on online networking sites.
Using this data, Garçon delivers meaningful recommendations to each user to enhance the user experience. The recommendations can be Web pages, topics and other similar users.
The Garçon demo exhibits how users of Yahoo!'s social bookmarking site del.icio.us can give a user recommendations for new bookmarks, users outside their network and other tags they might find interesting. The information is determined by analyzing the user's existing data, such as their current bookmarks and tags. Using this data, Garçon can predict what might interest the user.
For example, if a user has heavily bookmarked sites related to camping, Garçon will make recommendations on camping sites not currently bookmarked by the user, and other users that have similar bookmarks and tags, demonstrating a shared interest in camping.
This demo is now closed. Thank you for trying out Garçon.
Garçon was created by the Web Information Management, Economics and Social Systems groups.

I gave it a whirl, but it said it didn't come up with any suggestions for me. I meet all the criteria (I have plenty of bookmarks and very few are "private." Do you have any other possibilities? delicious.com/bobpotter

Comment by Pras Sarkar (August 27, 2008, 1:43 pm)I like the concept. Is it possible to integrate Garcon in other (non Yahoo) platforms (i.e. via an API)? Today or in the near future?
